California-cool brand Simon Miller, known for its vibrant use of color and festive designs, just launched a much-anticipated summer capsule collection with the Spanish-based brand Mango. Inspired by the care-free spirit and deep blue hues of the Mediterranean sea, the collection captures the two brands’ ethos.
Coming off the heels of its most recent collaboration with influencer Camille Charrière, Mango first approached Simon Miller’s CEO and creative director, Chelsea Hansford, with the idea. “When Mango contacted me, it was very different from any other brand, because although it has such an obtainable price point, Mango still operates from this luxury lens,” she tells Vogue. “It was an instant ‘yes’! I saw so much of what Simon Miller could bring to the collaboration just with colors and prints and storytelling.”
With limited-edition garments, including fishnet maxi dresses, anemone-printed matching sets, striped swimwear, and more, Simon Miller’s magical sea world comes to life. The 73-piece collection, which officially launches tomorrow, Monday, May 22, is available to shop now exclusively for Vogue readers. Designed with a playful approach to luxury, the capsule is a summer wardrobe’s dream. “I really got inspired by this whimsical, under-the-sea world of the Mediterranean,” Hansford tells us. “I pictured this eclectic fisherman that lived in a mosaic house under the sea, surrounded by exotic fish and covered in shells and beads.”
Alongside the more vibrant pieces of the collection, you’ll also find several everyday essentials meant for styling–think oversized T-shirts, crisp button-up shirts, and white jeans. “We wanted a full collection, not just pieces–essentials that tied back some of these fun prints to the Simon Miller x Mango girl. That’s where the white poplin and white jeans came from–we wanted to make everything for our girl,” says Hansford. Designed with a full look in mind, she continues: “It’s a full capsule wardrobe. We designed it and styled it with that in mind.”
“There’s obviously a lot of pieces in there that you can mix and match and style whatever way, but I think the fun part is the fact that you can be planning a vacation to the South of France or the Amalfi Coast and you have this full look that you can actually afford and wear–that’s what I’m most excited about,” she elaborates.
The collection also leans heavily on accessories, with pieces like coral-inspired jewels and oyster clutches designed to mirror the aesthetic of the sea bed. Other standouts include floppy raffia sun hats, signature Simon Miller platform sandals, and statement sunnies. “The sunglasses, in general, are some of my favorites,” says Hansford. As for her other favorite pieces in the collection? “I think the yellow crochet gown is one of my favorite pieces. I love it with the blue straw hat and the jewelry. I love the sets, too. The metallic crochet dress is also amazing—I wore it in Santorini when we were there for the campaign and it glistened in the sun. It was so flattering and soft.” And perhaps surprisingly, she forecasts: “I think the puffer platform sandals are going to be a hit—they’re so comfortable and fun for the summer. They’re so Simon Miller.”
