Oh, baby! Karlie Kloss accessorized her Met Gala 2023 ensemble with a baby bump, unmissable in her skintight black dress. This is Kloss’ second child; she and husband Joshua Kushner welcomed their first son, Levi, in March 2021.
“I got a plus one, don’t tell anybody,” she joked to Emma Chamberlain on Vogue’s red carpet livestream. “You know what, this is also the first time I’m sharing my news, so it’s very special.”
Kloss paid homage to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, the theme of this year’s Costume Institute exhibition, with a new dress from Loewe, designed by Jonathan Anderson. Kloss and Anderson were inspired by a Lagerfeld-created 1983 Chanel dress, the tromp l’oeil design, combined with Anderson’s own sensibilities.
“We were inspired by that moment, and we wanted to kind of interpret it in our own way,” she said.
Kloss’s bump paired perfectly with the long strands of pearls integrated into her sleek dress, but she admitted she was feeling “kind of vulnerable.”

“Oh, girl. I was pregnant last time during the pandemic, so I didn’t leave my sweatpants,” she said. “So this is the first time I’m actually on a red carpet pregnant. It’s a super special moment and kind of vulnerable. I don’t know how to style a belly, so this is my first time and I can’t imagine a more special moment.”
