The Oscars 2023 red carpet was just the beginning of Hollywood’s Biggest Night. As celebrities from all over the world gathered at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood to celebrate and commemorate achievements in film on Sunday, the possibility of making Oscars history awaited many of the nominees as they primped and posed for throngs of photographers and fans. Stars like Rihanna, Jessica Chastain, Angela Bassett, Lady Gaga, Austin Butler and Florence Pugh infused energy and excitement onto the Oscars 2023 red carpet with their looks.

With Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s Everything Everywhere All at Once leading the way with 11 nominations, all eyes (googly and otherwise) were on Oscar nominees Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan—who has been working with stylist Chloe Takayanagi to update classic suiting with colorful and textural details all awards-season long—Jamie Lee Curtis, and Stephanie Hsu. From emotional acceptance speeches (“For so many years, I was afraid I had nothing more to offer,” Quan poignantly explained as he took home the 2023 Golden Globe Award for best supporting actor) to unforgettable fashion choices (like Yeoh in Schiaparelli haute couture and Moussaieff high jewelry at the SAG Awards, which earned her a well-deserved spot on our best-dressed list), everything has been leading up to the Oscars for the cast of the absurdist comedy-drama.

Just behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Banshees of Inisherin and German war drama All Quiet on the Western Front were both nominated for nine awards each. Banshees star Colin Farrell was looking forward to the Oscars 2023 and recently told Vanity Fair all about his red-carpet look and his date. He was joined by his 13-year-old son, Henry, for the evening, and they were “both wearing velvet tuxes,” the actor said. Farrell, who is nominated for best actor, was joined by his costars (and fellow Oscar nominees) Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon, and Barry Keoghan. “That’ll be a laugh,” he said of reuniting with his cast prior to the show.

Before the winners were announced and those 24k gold-plated statuettes steal the spotlight, the red carpet was the place to be. Enjoy all of the must-see looks from the 2023 Oscars red carpet below.
